Phonics

This week we started to learn The Phonics Dance!  We also got to use our own individual whiteboard and cool magnetic eraser to practice the short a sound.

School Rules

Mrs. Mason and Mr. Dixon came to talk to us today about why rules are important in school.  After they visited we came up with three rules that would help us accomplish our hopes and dreams.  The rules we created were take care of yourself, take care of others, and take care of our school.  Under each category we thought of ways to live by that rule.

Summer Break

Learning through play is so important during the elementary years.  Here we are writing and drawing about our summer break with sidewalk chalk.

Mrs. Yakscoe is our Star Student

Each student will have the chance to be the Star Student of the week!  The Star Student has many jobs to do including picking a favorite book, bringing in a snack, decorating a poster, sharing pictures, and sitting on a special chair.  Mrs. Yakscoe is our first star!  

Allison's Birthday Celebration

Happy birthday Allison!  The pops were an awesome treat for this warm summer day!  Allison's sister came to read her birthday book to the class.

Chill Time

Each day we get 10 minutes to chill out after the hustle and bustle of lunch and recess.  We listen to soft music, draw pictures, or put our heads down to relax.  Here is what we picked today to calm our bodies.

The new class name is… (drumroll please)… THE 1A SUPER LEARNERS

We came we saw, we voted on a new class name!  The most votes came in for the 1A Super Learners.  

Making Minions

One of our favorite activities this week was making minions for our class bulletin board.  We got to design the minion with any decorations.  Check us our creating our VERY OWN minion.
